Mr. Kelvin See Kai Gin

Max Freight Forwarders (M) S/B

Hi, I’m Kelvin See Kai Gin. I’ve been working in logistics for more than 10 years, mainly handling customs clearance and container transport. I’m with Max Freight Forwarders (M) Sdn Bhd, a logistics company based in Klang that’s been around for over 20 years. We help customers move their goods in and out of Malaysia—by sea, land, and sometimes air.

My work is mostly on the operations side. That means I’m involved in the day-to-day tasks that help cargo move smoothly. For example, I help prepare and check the documents needed for customs, solve clearance problems, and follow up with port and customs officers when needed. I work closely with our team—especially the customs documentation staff and the transport planners—so that we avoid delays and meet customer deadlines.

In customs work, it’s important to get the details right. A small mistake in the tariff code or forgetting a permit can hold up a shipment. So I spend a lot of time checking things and helping the team fix issues before they become bigger problems. I don’t see it as managing—I’m just part of the team trying to keep things moving.

On the haulage side, I help manage our container trucks. We move containers in and out of Port Klang every day. My job is to work with the dispatch team and drivers to plan routes, avoid unnecessary delays, and make sure containers get returned on time. When there are last-minute changes from the port or the customer, we adjust the plan together. The job involves a lot of coordination and quick problem-solving.

Besides my work at Max Freight, I also support the logistics community through the Selangor Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (SFFLA). I’m currently serving as the Deputy Honorary Secretary General. In this role, I help organize meetings, write official letters, and work with other forwarders to raise issues with port authorities and customs. The goal is simple: share problems we all face, and work towards smoother processes for everyone.

My core portfolio in SFFLA is serving the association members in handling Non-cheque Deposit Scheme (NCD), I have been serving in this capacity for over 9 years.

Within our company, I’ve also been helping out with small improvements—like finding ways to reduce paperwork, speed up communication between departments, and slowly move more of our processes online. These changes help us work faster and make fewer mistakes, but it only works when everyone’s on board. I believe in working together and supporting one another. In logistics, nothing runs well unless the team is aligned.

I don’t see myself as a leader—I see myself as someone who helps where needed, solves problems, and keeps things on track. I enjoy working with people across different roles, whether it’s office staff, drivers, or government officers. Everyone plays a part.
